Lennox to carry Olympic Torch for 2012 Olympics

Lennox has been asked to carry the Olympic torch for part of its route as it travels through England for the 2012 Olympic games.  On Sunday, July 27th, 2012, Lennox will receive the torch in Bexley, as the last carrier of the day, and will light a cauldron with the Olympic flame at an evening celebration in Danson Park.  “This is a great honor for me and my family.

“Growing up here a as child and now being able to come back and participate in something so historic means the world to me,” say Lennox on his torch run.  “The fact that the games are here in England, has a special meaning to me because I was born here.   I can’t wait for the world to see how London hosts the games.  I’m looking forward to it all.” Lennox also added.

Lennox won the the Super Heavyweight gold medal in boxing for Canada in 1988.
